And we even provide puppy visits for the newest member of the family. Fit Fido also believes that your pets are happiest when they are in their own home, so we specialise in a professional pet sitting service for when you are away. This is fast becoming the preferred method of pet care around the world, and proving to be a kinder, more effective alternative to boarding kennels and catteries. Our aim is to create a balance of exercise, companionship and fun in a safe and encouraging environment, whilst bringing out the very best in your pet. As a pet portrait artist and photographer she was always surrounded by animals and their owners. She soon realized there was an urgent need of quality care for pets in situations where owners were unable to meet their requirements due to...well...life in general. And thus, Fit Fido was created. We are proud to be a small, family-owned business with a passion for pet fitness and happiness. We are committed to our clients, our environment, our community and animal welfare. We are fully insured, fully prepared (water, first aid, doo-doo bags, towels, and spare leashes), police checked, and we are each proudly owned by healthy, happy hounds (as well as numerous other animals).Our team loves every creature put on this earth and believe they should be treated with respect and dignity. what we do
We like to keep it simple here at Fit Fido. There are two things we do, and we do them really well.One is dog fitness. Our exercise sessions are more than practical....they are enjoyable. Our goal is to transform your mutt from frustrated and flabby to fit and fabulous with regular runs, walks, play, socialisation, massage (belly-rubs) and the occasional healthy treat. We ascertain your dog's current physical fitness level, and tailor a program to suit their requirements. With special rates for regular clients who have 2 or more workouts per week, as well as discounts for pensioners, we can make it affordable for all dog lovers. Oh, and because your pup usually doesn't care if it’s raining, neither do we. Unless it’s extreme, our team will exercise in most weather conditions. As our mutts like to say - "if it's not fun - it's not done!"Our dog fitness service includes the following:- The entire time frame is dedicated to your dog - so they get the full 30, 45 or 60 minutes to run, walk, play, explore and sniff!- Fresh water, first aid, healthy treats and doo-doo bags always on hand- Checking for ticks or burrs that may attach during the walk - If it rains, well give them a thorough rub-down with a clean, fresh towel when they get home- A very happy and totally exhausted puppy at the end of the sessionIf your pooch is a little on the cuddly side, we may need to take it slow and steady at first, until they regain their peak fitness. Soon that wascally wabbit they chase in their puppy dreams wont stand a chance!All you need to provide on play-day is a good-fitting collar, secure leash and I.D. tag (we do have back-ups in case of emergencies), and we do the rest. ------------------------------Two is pet sitting. We believe that when you are away, your pets are happier when they are at home. Whether you are absent for a few days or a few weeks, we can visit your dog (and other fur-kids) once or twice daily, each time taking care of their exercise, food and cuddle requirements. (If you have other unusual pets, we will certainly look after them too...even creepy, crawly, scaley ones).Our pet sitting service includes the following:- Feeding - you provide their food and we provide healthy treats (but only if their diet allows, of course)- Fun - cuddles, massage, tummy rubs and brushing their coat- Fitness - playing ball, hide-and-seek, chasies - and we can include a walk as part of the exercise- Fresh water at every visit- Administering medication- Checking for ticks, scratches and itchy bites - Poo-Patrol - cleaning up nasties from the yard or the litter-box- And lots and lots of lovin'For pets with extra care needs, we can arrange a third visit during the day as well. We can also water your plants, collect mail, put the bins out and turn on/off any lights if required. (Very large yards may incur an additional fee - but we'll let you know upon consultation)Our dedicated team will contact you immediately should we have any concerns, and will take your pet straight to your vet in an emergency. We'll be having so much fun while you're away, that when you arrive home, you will be greeted by a big grin and a wagging tail (and your pet will be excited to see you too!). And just so you dont miss anything - we'll take some happy snaps, send you text or photo messages, and keep a diary of our activities. After all - it should be your pets holiday as well! When you compare our pet-sitting service to a regular kennel or cattery - I'm sure your pets would put all paws in the air and vote for being pampered in the comfort of their own home.When it comes to our focus on your pets, we are like a border collie with a tennis ball. Our human brains are full of enough stuff as it is. So here is our very uncomplicated fee structure:consultation fee: nothing, zero, zip, freedog fitness: 30 minute session - $20 45 minute session - $25 60 minute session - $30*extra dog - $5 per session(Based on one session per week. More walks = more discounts.)pet sitting: 1 x half-hour visit per day - $20 per visit 2 x half-hour visits per day - $18 per visit(Based on 1 dog or 2 cats and a minimum duration of 2 days)These are our most basic rates, however not every fur-family is the same - so we recommend that you contact us so we can custom design a package specifically to suit your pet's needs. We also offer special rates to pensioners and seniors, as well as those who need someone to look after their pets while in hospital.public holidays: There is a 10% surcharge on recognised South Australian public holidays - of which we have chosen to donate to one of our favourite animal welfare charities. *Fees are GST inclusive and current as of 01/01/2011areas serviced: Basically, if you live north of Grand Junction Road, we can look after your animals. From Gepps Cross to Gawler, and east to Banskia Park - we've got your pets needs covered.If you live outside this area we may still be able to provide our services, however a travel charge will be added to the cost.

This is Stolli. She is a bundle of energy and an absolute sweetheart. We have lots of fun during our exercise sessions....oops....I mean "playtime"...! Her owners are amazed at the muscles she now has, and that she is much happier and less stressed.
This beautiful boy is Bandit. He is one half of an inseparable Border Collie duo. He is one very smart puppy dog. I'm sure he could figure out a Rubiks Cube....if only he had thumbs!

Q and A
Q: How many dogs do you walk at a time?A: Any where between one and four. But we limit ourselves to your dogs only. They have our full attention at all times!Q: Where do you normally walk the dogs?A: We keep to your familiar neighbourhood areas. However, we do like to break the monotony and change the route often. After all...there is a lot to explore.Q: What are the areas that you provide dog walking and pet sitting to?A: We cover all the areas from Grand Junction Road northwards. (We provide more detailed information on our pricing page.)Q: Can you take our dogs to a park?A: If there is an off-leash dog park nearby, and you are happy for us to do so, then most certainly. Q: What if the weather is terrible?A: In most cases we will still have an exercise session. In extreme heat we will reschedule the appointment for another day, or we can still provide companionship and mental stimulation. Q: What happens in an emergency?A: When you book with us we create a pet profile for each of your animals, with all the necessary information for your pet's safety. We will call you, your vet or your emergency contacts immediately if we are the least bit concerned. Whilst in our care, your dog (or cat) will also wear one of our special tags with the Fit Fido phone number on it. Q: How soon should I make a pet sitting booking?A: Preferably as soon as your trip is confirmed. During peak holiday periods we may be booked out early.Q: What happens if my trip is cancelled and I no longer need the pet sitting service?A: You should call us as soon as you can. If the cancellation is within 48 hours of the commencement of our booking, then a 15% fee applies. Q: When and how do I pay?A: For new clients we require payment of 50% of the total before commencement, and the final 50% at the end of the service. Currently we accept cash and cheques. Q: What if my trip is extended and I can't get home on the specified date?A: Then we will continue to take care of your pets until you get home. Just make sure to let us know if there is a delay, and when we will expect you to be back. Q: Do you need our house key?A: In most cases when we are pet sitting we require a key. While your keys are in our possession, they only have our contact details on them for security reasons
